NOLA- Day 1

Last Friday we hit the road for our 2015 spring break trip.  We decided to head to New Orleans!  We have been wanting to go there for some time now and are so glad we finally made it down.  Mike has family that lives in New Orleans- it was so fun to visit and get to know them better!  We all had a great time and the city completely blew my expectations out of the water.  The people of New Orleans have mastered food and parades!!  I have so many pictures that I will have to split this trip up into a few posts!  Thank you so much, Julie, for your hospitality!

We arrived Friday afternoon and enjoyed a yummy dinner of crawfish and shrimp.  SO good!  Saturday we literally spent ALL day downtown.  We started with beignets at Cafe Du Monde (fried dough with sugar = Delicious!!).  Then we headed to the St. Patrick's day parade.  The boys LOVED this!  They don't just throw beads in New Orleans…the boys caught stuffed animals, hats, toys, snacks, cabbages, flowers, and so much more!  Connor waved his little hand for 2 hours and Anderson was so excited whenever he caught something new.  They were so cute and cracking us up.

Waiting for the Parade to start

The floats were all double decker and decorated so neat!  The boys loved the Woody and R2D2 one!

 LOVE this pic!

 This guy racked up good!

There were several of the tractors cleaning up afterwards-- made us laugh!

After the parade we walked around downtown in Jackson square and on the riverfront.  The architecture in New Orleans is gorgeous!  We went to church at the St. Louis Cathedral-- stunning!  Then after mass we had to get a hurricane- when in Rome, right?! We finished the night with a yummy dinner in the Garden District on a rooftop deck!

There were all kinds of performers and entertainers on the streets

 Make a wish!

I loved how green and colorful everything was!! Outside is still so brown in STL.
 The Mississippi River

We were enjoying the Riverwalk and this band showed up out of nowhere and started playing some music- so fun!

The inside of the cathedral was so pretty!  The entire ceiling was painted- I loved it!

 De--LICIOUS!

We all slept so good that night!
